The work Head study for 'The Cave of the Storm Nymphs' by Edward John Poynter was sold in the Victorian Pre-Raphaelite & British Impressionist Art auction at Christies in London in July 2018. The auction ended at the price of GBP 10,000.00 (€ 11,212.20), which exactly corresponded to the upper end of the estimated price range of GBP 7,000.00 – 10,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Edward John Poynter achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Orpheus and Eurydice in December 2020 with an auction result of GBP 437,500.00 (€ 488,726.49).
