Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work A Small Town at the Turn of the Century by Simryn Gill was auctioned at Phillips in an online auction in June 2020, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of GBP 1,500.00 – 2,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for GBP 1,125.00 (€ 1,238.99). Admittedly, works by Simryn Gill have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Malaysian Forest Nos. 3, 4, 11 in August 2009 with an auction result of AUD 15,600.00 (€ 9,171.55).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit A Small Town at the Turn of the Century von Simryn Gill im Juni 2020 bei Phillips in einer Online-Auktion versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 1.500,00 – 2.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für GBP 1.125,00 (€ 1.238,99) den Besitzer. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Simryn Gill auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Malaysian Forest Nos. 3, 4, 11 im August 2009 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von AUD 15.600,00 (€ 9.171,55).
