Artwork auctioned at five times the upper estimate price
When the work A lobster, a bun and a knife on a pewter plate, a roemer, a wine glass and a Delft jug with a Chinese blue and white silver mounted ewer on a draped ledge by Simon Luttichuys was auctioned at Christies in Amsterdam in May 2000, the result exceeded expectations many times over. The upper estimate was set at a - in retrospect quite modest - NLG 120,000.00 but the actual price achieved was more than five times as high at NLG 608,504.00 (€ 265,698.63). Admittedly, works by Simon Luttichuys have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work A Still Life With A Pewter Jug On Its Side, A Glass Of Ale, A Salt Cellar, A Bread Roll And Other Objects On A Table Draped In A Dark Green Cloth in January 2012 with an auction result of USD 1,986,500.00 (€ 1,521,872.37).
Kunstwerk zum Fünffachen des oberen Schätzpreises versteigert
Als die Arbeit A lobster, a bun and a knife on a pewter plate, a roemer, a wine glass and a Delft jug with a Chinese blue and white silver mounted ewer on a draped ledge von Simon Luttichuys im Mai 2000 bei Christies in Amsterdam versteigert wurde, übertraf das Ergebnis die Erwartungen um ein Vielfaches. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Simon Luttichuys auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit A Still Life With A Pewter Jug On Its Side, A Glass Of Ale, A Salt Cellar, A Bread Roll And Other Objects On A Table Draped In A Dark Green Cloth im Januar 2012 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 1.986.500,00 (€ 1.521.872,37).
