Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Catamurons by Simon Hantaï was auctioned at Sothebys in Paris in October 2021, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of EUR 70,000.00 – 100,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for EUR 69,300.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Simon Hantaï achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work M.A.4 (Mariale) in December 2016 with an auction result of EUR 4,432,500.00.
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Catamurons von Simon Hantaï im Oktober 2021 bei Sothebys in Paris versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von EUR 70.000,00 – 100.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für EUR 69.300,00 den Besitzer. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Simon Hantaï erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit M.A.4 (Mariale) im Dezember 2016 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von EUR 4.432.500,00.
