Auction result misses estimated price range
In October 2019 a collector was able to acquire the work Romeo And Juliet Overlooked By Friar Lawrence by Simeon Solomon for USD 625.00 (€ 560.29). This price was achieved in the auction European Paintings, Drawings and Sculpture at Sothebys in New York and was even below the estimate range of USD 2,000.00 – 3,000.00 set by the auction house. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Simeon Solomon achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Habet! In The Coliseum A.D.Xc in July 2018 with an auction result of GBP 370,000.00 (€ 414,851.36).
