Sold at the upper estimate price
The work OO! Shinjuku. Tokyo: Shaken, 1969. by Shomei Tomatsu was sold in the Photobooks auction at Christies in London in May 2009. The auction ended at the price of GBP 2,000.00 (€ 2,287.98), which exactly corresponded to the upper end of the estimated price range of GBP 1,500.00 – 2,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Shomei Tomatsu achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Untitled (series 'Chewing Gum and Chocolate, Yokosuka'), 1958 in November last year with an auction result of EUR 37,800.00.
Zuschlag beim oberen Schätzpreis
Die Arbeit OO! Shinjuku.
