Auction result misses estimated price range
This work of art by Sherrie Levine could be acquired at Phillips in New York in September this year for an unexpectedly low price. In the New Now auction, the work The Cradle changed hands for USD 139,700.00 (€ 131,991.69) - missing the lower end of the estimate range of USD 150,000.00 – 200,000.00. Admittedly, works by Sherrie Levine have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Fountain (After Marcel Duchamp) in May 2012 with an auction result of USD 962,500.00 (€ 778,469.75).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Dieses Kunstwerk von Sherrie Levine konnte im September diesen Jahres bei Phillips in New York für einen unerwartet niedrigen Preis ersteigert werden. In der Auktion New Now wechselte die Arbeit The Cradle für USD 139.700,00 (€ 131.991,69) den Besitzer – und verfehlte damit das untere Ende der Schätzpreisspanne von USD 150.000,00 – 200.000,00. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Sherrie Levine auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Fountain (After Marcel Duchamp) im Mai 2012 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 962.500,00 (€ 778.469,75).
