Upper estimate price exceeded by more than 100%
This artwork by Shen Congwen achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in Hong Kong in May last year. In the Fine Chinese Modern and Contemporary Ink Paintings auction, the work Calligraphy in Running Script sold for HKD 252,000.00 (€ 29,917.81) - well above the upper estimate of HKD 120,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Shen Congwen - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Calligraphy, which sold at auction in April this year for HKD 66,000.00 (€ 67,398.91).
Oberer Schätzpreis um mehr als 100% übertroffen
Dieses Kunstwerk von Shen Congwen erzielte im Mai letzten Jahres bei Christies in Hong Kong einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion Fine Chinese Modern and Contemporary Ink Paintings wurde die Arbeit Calligraphy in Running Script für HKD 252.000,00 (€ 29.917,81) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von HKD 120.000,00. Für andere Arbeiten von Shen Congwen mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Calligraphy beobachtet, die im April diesen Jahres für HKD 66.000,00 (€ 67.398,91) versteigert wurde.
