Auction result misses estimated price range
In January 2021 a collector was able to acquire the work Recto: Two Deities and a Putto among Clouds Verso: Two studies of hands and a forearm by Sebastiano Ricci for USD 3,780.00 (€ 3,114.96). This price was achieved in the auction From Taddeo to Tiepolo: The Dr. John O’Brien Collection of Old Master Drawings at Sothebys in New York and was even below the estimate range of USD 4,000.00 – 6,000.00 set by the auction house. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Sebastiano Ricci achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Time revealing Truth in April 2007 with an auction result of USD 2,448,000.00 (€ 1,792,093.70).
