Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Five Works on Paper for Harper's Bazaar by Saul Steinberg was auctioned at Bonhams in New York in July last year. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 3,000.00 – 5,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 3,442.50 (€ 3,374.34) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Saul Steinberg achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Twenty Americans (Twenty Professions) in November last year with an auction result of USD 113,400.00 (€ 109,851.79).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Die Arbeit Five Works on Paper for Harper's Bazaar von Saul Steinberg kam im Juli letzten Jahres bei Bonhams in New York zur Auktion. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 3.000,00 – 5.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von USD 3.442,50 (€ 3.374,34) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Saul Steinberg erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Twenty Americans (Twenty Professions) im November letzten Jahres mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 113.400,00 (€ 109.851,79).
