Auction result misses estimated price range
In December 2008 a collector was able to acquire the work A Merchant Ship, Hove To, Off The Mouth Of The Mersey by Samuel Walters for GBP 21,250.00 (€ 22,318.68). This price was achieved in the auction Marine Sale at Sothebys in London and was even below the estimate range of GBP 25,000.00 – 35,000.00 set by the auction house. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Samuel Walters - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work The Confederate blockade runner C.S.S COLONEL LAMB at sea, which sold at auction in February 2004 for USD 77,675.00 (€ 62,434.69).

Im Dezember 2008 konnte ein Sammler die Arbeit A Merchant Ship, Hove To, Off The Mouth Of The Mersey von Samuel Walters für GBP 21.250,00 (€ 22.318,68) erwerben. Dieser Preis wurde in der Auktion Marine Sale bei Sothebys in London erzielt und lag noch unterhalb der von dem Auktionshaus angesetzten Schätzpreisspanne von GBP 25.000,00 – 35.000,00. Für andere Arbeiten von Samuel Walters mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit The Confederate blockade runner C.S.S COLONEL LAMB at sea beobachtet, die im Februar 2004 für USD 77.675,00 (€ 62.434,69) versteigert wurde.
