Auction result well in line with expectations
The work The Jane Prowse in two positions off the entrance to the Mersey at New Brighton by Samuel Walters was sold in the The Marine Sale auction at Bonhams in London in October this year. The price achieved of GBP 5,120.00 (€ 5,879.18) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 4,000.00 – 6,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Samuel Walters achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work The Confederate blockade runner C.S.S COLONEL LAMB at sea in February 2004 with an auction result of USD 77,675.00 (€ 62,434.69).

Die Arbeit The Jane Prowse in two positions off the entrance to the Mersey at New Brighton von Samuel Walters wurde im Oktober diesen Jahres in der Auktion The Marine Sale bei Bonhams in London versteigert. Der dabei erzielte Preis von GBP 5.120,00 (€ 5.879,18) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit GBP 4.000,00 – 6.000,00 angegeben worden. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Samuel Walters erzielen.
