Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Warships anchored off the Italian port of Leghorn, with fishermen unloading their catch in the foreground by Samuel Owen was sold in the Important Maritime Art auction at Christies in London in October 2007. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 2,000.00 – 3,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 2,250.00 (€ 3,231.15) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Samuel Owen - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work A frigate, an excursion steamer and barges on the Thames before Greenwich Hospital, which sold at auction in October 2007 for GBP 7,500.00 (€ 10,770.49).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Die Arbeit Warships anchored off the Italian port of Leghorn, with fishermen unloading their catch in the foreground von Samuel Owen wurde im Oktober 2007 in der Auktion Important Maritime Art bei Christies in London versteigert. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 2.000,00 – 3.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von GBP 2.250,00 (€ 3.231,15) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen.
