Auction result well in line with expectations
In October 2007 Christies in London held the auction Important Maritime Art, which included the work Fisherfolk unloading the catch on the south coast by Samuel Owen. The price achieved of GBP 1,750.00 (€ 2,513.12) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 1,500.00 – 2,000.00. Admittedly, works by Samuel Owen have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work A frigate, an excursion steamer and barges on the Thames before Greenwich Hospital in October 2007 with an auction result of GBP 7,500.00 (€ 10,770.49).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im Oktober 2007 führte Christies in London die Auktion Important Maritime Art durch, in der auch die Arbeit Fisherfolk unloading the catch on the south coast von Samuel Owen zur Versteigerung kam. Der dabei erzielte Preis von GBP 1.750,00 (€ 2.513,12) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit GBP 1.500,00 – 2.000,00 angegeben worden. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Samuel Owen auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit A frigate, an excursion steamer and barges on the Thames before Greenwich Hospital im Oktober 2007 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 7.500,00 (€ 10.770,49).
