Auction result well in line with expectations
In October 2007 Christies in London held the auction Important Maritime Art, which included the work A busy day on the Thames, the wharves at Limehouse by Samuel Owen. The price achieved of GBP 1,375.00 (€ 1,974.59) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 1,200.00 – 1,800.00. Admittedly, works by Samuel Owen have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work A frigate, an excursion steamer and barges on the Thames before Greenwich Hospital in October 2007 with an auction result of GBP 7,500.00 (€ 10,770.49).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im Oktober 2007 führte Christies in London die Auktion Important Maritime Art durch, in der auch die Arbeit A busy day on the Thames, the wharves at Limehouse von Samuel Owen zur Versteigerung kam. Der dabei erzielte Preis von GBP 1.375,00 (€ 1.974,59) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit GBP 1.200,00 – 1.800,00 angegeben worden. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Samuel Owen auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit A frigate, an excursion steamer and barges on the Thames before Greenwich Hospital im Oktober 2007 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 7.500,00 (€ 10.770,49).
