Auction result well in line with expectations
In May 2011 Christies in London held the auction Maritime Art, which included the work Fishermen in a continental harbour at the end of the day with warships lying at anchor beyond by Samuel Owen. The price achieved of GBP 1,000.00 (€ 1,143.50) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 800.00 – 1,200.00. Admittedly, works by Samuel Owen have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work A frigate, an excursion steamer and barges on the Thames before Greenwich Hospital in October 2007 with an auction result of GBP 7,500.00 (€ 10,770.49).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im Mai 2011 führte Christies in London die Auktion Maritime Art durch, in der auch die Arbeit Fishermen in a continental harbour at the end of the day with warships lying at anchor beyond von Samuel Owen zur Versteigerung kam. Der dabei erzielte Preis von GBP 1.000,00 (€ 1.143,50) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit GBP 800,00 – 1.200,00 angegeben worden. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Samuel Owen auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit A frigate, an excursion steamer and barges on the Thames before Greenwich Hospital im Oktober 2007 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 7.500,00 (€ 10.770,49).
