Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Shipping Becalmed Off The Coast by Samuel Atkins was auctioned at Christies in London in November 2005, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of GBP 1,500.00 – 2,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for GBP 1,200.00 (€ 1,762.95). However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Samuel Atkins - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work The Honourable East India Company's ships Devonshire, Woodford and Lord Duncan lying on the Thames off Blackwall (illustrated) ; View of Battersea; and View of Penny's Dockyard at Blackwall (illustrated), which sold at auction in November 2010 for GBP 4,000.00 (€ 4,779.99).

Als die Arbeit Shipping Becalmed Off The Coast von Samuel Atkins im November 2005 bei Christies in London versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus.
