Auction result well in line with expectations
In May 2003 Christies in London held the auction Maritime, which included the work A gentle breeze in the Channel by Samuel Atkins. The price achieved of GBP 1,762.50 (€ 2,455.61) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 1,500.00 – 2,000.00. Other works by Samuel Atkins have already achieved higher auction prices, for example, in November 2010 the work The Honourable East India Company's ships Devonshire, Woodford and Lord Duncan lying on the Thames off Blackwall (illustrated) ; View of Battersea; and View of Penny's Dockyard at Blackwall (illustrated) was auctioned for GBP 4,000.00 (€ 4,779.99).
