Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Pietà by Sam Taylor-Johnson was auctioned at Phillips in London in February 2020. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 20,000.00 – 30,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 22,500.00 (€ 26,077.55) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Sam Taylor-Johnson - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work After Van Halen, which sold at auction in February 2008 for USD 88,000.00 (€ 57,944.29).
