Artwork auctioned at three times the upper estimate price
The work Holding Virginia by Sally Mann was worth GBP 44,450.00 (€ 51,717.87) to a buyer in May this year. This price was achieved in the auction Photographs at Phillips in London and exceeded the previously set upper estimate of GBP 12,000.00 many times over. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Sally Mann - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Candy Cigarette, which sold at auction in October 2014 for USD 257,000.00 (€ 205,107.74).

Die Arbeit Holding Virginia von Sally Mann war einem Käufer im Mai diesen Jahres GBP 44.450,00 (€ 51.717,87) wert. Dieser Preise wurde in der Auktion Photographs bei Phillips in London erzielt und übertraf den zuvor angesetzten oberen Schätzpreis von GBP 12.000,00 um ein Vielfaches. Für andere Arbeiten von Sally Mann mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Candy Cigarette beobachtet, die im Oktober 2014 für USD 257.000,00 (€ 205.107,74) versteigert wurde.
