This artwork by Rosalba Carriera achieved an unexpectedly high price at Sothebys in New York in January 2021. In the Old Master Drawings auction, the work Portrait of a young child, bust length sold for USD 44,100.00 (€ 36,341.16) - well above the upper estimate of USD 25,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Rosalba Carriera achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Portrait of Gustavus Hamilton (1710-1746), 2nd Viscount Boyne, long bust-length, wearing an ermine trimmed coat, tricorn hat and mask in July 2008 with an auction result of GBP 421,250.00 (€ 535,202.87).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 76 % übertroffen
Dieses Kunstwerk von Rosalba Carriera erzielte im Januar 2021 bei Sothebys in New York einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion Old Master Drawings wurde die Arbeit Portrait of a young child, bust length für USD 44.100,00 (€ 36.341,16) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von USD 25.000,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Rosalba Carriera erzielen.
