Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Portrait Of A Lady, Traditionally Identified As Lucrezia Mocenigo by Rosalba Carriera was auctioned at Sothebys in London in July 2019. The price achieved of GBP 5,000.00 (€ 5,489.67) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 4,000.00 – 6,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Rosalba Carriera achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Portrait of Gustavus Hamilton (1710-1746), 2nd Viscount Boyne, long bust-length, wearing an ermine trimmed coat, tricorn hat and mask in July 2008 with an auction result of GBP 421,250.00 (€ 535,202.87).
