Auction result well in line with expectations
The work An Elder of the Village, Carpathian Ruthenia, 1938 by Roman Vishniac was auctioned at Christies in New York in October 2017. The price achieved of USD 6,250.00 (€ 5,365.73) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as USD 5,000.00 – 7,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Roman Vishniac - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work 'The Vanished World', which sold at auction in October 2010 for USD 28,125.00 (€ 20,242.55).

Die Arbeit An Elder of the Village, Carpathian Ruthenia, 1938 von Roman Vishniac kam im Oktober 2017 bei Christies in New York zur Auktion. Der dabei erzielte Preis von USD 6.250,00 (€ 5.365,73) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit USD 5.000,00 – 7.000,00 angegeben worden. Für andere Arbeiten von Roman Vishniac mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit 'The Vanished World' beobachtet, die im Oktober 2010 für USD 28.125,00 (€ 20.242,55) versteigert wurde.
