Upper estimate price exceeded by more than 100%
This artwork by Roger Brown achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in New York in July 2021. In the First Open | Post-War & Contemporary Art auction, the work Memory of Sandhill Cranes sold for USD 175,000.00 (€ 147,505.06) - well above the upper estimate of USD 80,000.00. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Roger Brown; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot Cloud Cover sold at auction in May last year with the realized price of USD 252,000.00 (€ 234,833.66).

Dieses Kunstwerk von Roger Brown erzielte im Juli 2021 bei Christies in New York einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion First Open | Post-War & Contemporary Art wurde die Arbeit Memory of Sandhill Cranes für USD 175.000,00 (€ 147.505,06) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von USD 80.000,00. Trotz des guten Ergebnisses ist dies nicht der höchste Zuschlag für ein Kunstwerk von Roger Brown; den erzielte unter den von uns beobachteten Auktionen die Arbeit Cloud Cover im Mai letzten Jahres mit dem Hammerpreis von USD 252.000,00 (€ 234.833,66).
