Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Cyclops by Robert Smithson was sold in the First Open | Post-War & Contemporary Art auction at Christies in New York in December 2017. The price achieved of USD 5,000.00 (€ 4,159.04) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as USD 4,000.00 – 6,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Robert Smithson achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Alogon #3 in May 2008 with an auction result of USD 4,297,000.00 (€ 2,761,568.12).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Die Arbeit Cyclops von Robert Smithson wurde im Dezember 2017 in der Auktion First Open | Post-War & Contemporary Art bei Christies in New York versteigert. Der dabei erzielte Preis von USD 5.000,00 (€ 4.159,04) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit USD 4.000,00 – 6.000,00 angegeben worden. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Robert Smithson erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Alogon #3 im Mai 2008 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 4.297.000,00 (€ 2.761.568,12).
