Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Portrait Of Artist After Bacon #3, 1981 by Robert Arneson was auctioned at Sothebys in New York in September 2018, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 15,000.00 – 20,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 13,750.00 (€ 11,831.01). Admittedly, works by Robert Arneson have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Audio Visual in May 2015 with an auction result of USD 87,500.00 (€ 79,588.87).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Portrait Of Artist After Bacon #3, 1981 von Robert Arneson im September 2018 bei Sothebys in New York versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 15.000,00 – 20.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für USD 13.750,00 (€ 11.831,01) den Besitzer. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Robert Arneson auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Audio Visual im Mai 2015 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 87.500,00 (€ 79.588,87).
