It achieved a price of EUR 5,019.00 exceeding the upper end of the estimate range by 67 %. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Rien Poortvliet; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot Tegen de draad in sold at auction in June 2004 with the realized price of EUR 5,975.00.

Die Arbeit A buzzard with its prey von Rien Poortvliet kam im Februar 2004 bei Christies in Amsterdam zur Auktion. Sie erzielte dabei einen Preis von EUR 5.019,00 und übertraf damit das obere Ende der Schätzpreisspanne um 67 %. Trotz des guten Ergebnisses ist dies nicht der höchste Zuschlag für ein Kunstwerk von Rien Poortvliet; den erzielte unter den von uns beobachteten Auktionen die Arbeit Tegen de draad in im Juni 2004 mit dem Hammerpreis von EUR 5.975,00.
