This artwork by Richard Smith achieved an unexpectedly high price at Sothebys in London in June 2017. In the Modern & Post-War British Art auction, the work Tip Top sold for GBP 131,250.00 (€ 149,469.26) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 60,000.00. This high result makes Tip Top the most expensive artwork by Richard Smith that we have observed at auctions so far.
