Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Four Corners 2 122.5 x 122.5cm (48 1/4 x 48 1/4in). Painted in 1965 by Richard Smith was auctioned at Bonhams in London in November this year. The price achieved of GBP 5,760.00 (€ 6,674.59) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 5,000.00 – 7,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Richard Smith achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Tip Top in June 2017 with an auction result of GBP 131,250.00 (€ 149,469.26).

Die Arbeit Four Corners 2 122.5 x 122.5cm (48 1/4 x 48 1/4in). Painted in 1965 von Richard Smith kam im November diesen Jahres bei Bonhams in London zur Auktion. Der dabei erzielte Preis von GBP 5.760,00 (€ 6.674,59) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit GBP 5.000,00 – 7.000,00 angegeben worden. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Richard Smith erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Tip Top im Juni 2017 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 131.250,00 (€ 149.469,26).
