The »bidding war« ended at GBP 2,176.00 (€ 2,521.51), 45% above the upper estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Richard Smith achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Tip Top in June 2017 with an auction result of GBP 131,250.00 (€ 149,469.26).

Die Arbeit Untitled (diptych) both 51 x 50cm (20 x 19 3/4 in). von Richard Smith wurde im November diesen Jahres in der Auktion Modern British and Irish Art bei Bonhams in London versteigert. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von GBP 2.176,00 (€ 2.521,51) und damit 45% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Richard Smith erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Tip Top im Juni 2017 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 131.250,00 (€ 149.469,26).
