Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Drunken Immortal, 1885 by Ren Yu was auctioned at Bonhams in New York in March last year, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 7,000.00 – 10,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 4,845.00 (€ 4,367.62). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Ren Yu achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Flowers in November 2013 with an auction result of HKD 2,800,000.00 (€ 265,471.12).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Drunken Immortal, 1885 von Ren Yu im März letzten Jahres bei Bonhams in New York versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 7.000,00 – 10.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für USD 4.845,00 (€ 4.367,62) den Besitzer. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Ren Yu erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Flowers im November 2013 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von HKD 2.800.000,00 (€ 265.471,12).
