Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Astro Errante (The Wandering Star) by Remedios Varo was sold in the Latin America: Modern Art | Latin America: Contemporary Art auction at Sothebys in New York in May 2016. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 900,000.00 – 1,200,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 970,000.00 (€ 871,127.08) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Admittedly, works by Remedios Varo have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Armonía (Autorretrato Sugerente) in June 2020 with an auction result of USD 6,186,800.00 (€ 5,508,681.33).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Die Arbeit Astro Errante (The Wandering Star) von Remedios Varo wurde im Mai 2016 in der Auktion Latin America: Modern Art | Latin America: Contemporary Art bei Sothebys in New York versteigert. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 900.000,00 – 1.200.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von USD 970.000,00 (€ 871.127,08) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Remedios Varo auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Armonía (Autorretrato Sugerente) im Juni 2020 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 6.186.800,00 (€ 5.508.681,33).
