Artwork auctioned at three times the upper estimate price
When the work Frankfurt, 1961 by Ray Metzker was auctioned at Christies in October 2021, the result exceeded expectations many times over. The upper estimate was set at a - in retrospect quite modest - USD 6,000.00 but the actual price achieved was more than three times as high at USD 18,750.00 (€ 16,230.96). Admittedly, works by Ray Metzker have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Composites: Tall Grove Of Nudes in April 2012 with an auction result of USD 122,500.00 (€ 92,599.59).
Kunstwerk zum Dreifachen des oberen Schätzpreises versteigert
Als die Arbeit Frankfurt, 1961 von Ray Metzker im Oktober 2021 bei Christies versteigert wurde, übertraf das Ergebnis die Erwartungen um ein Vielfaches. Der obere Schätzpreis war mit – rückwirkend betrachtet recht bescheidenen – USD 6.000,00 angesetzt, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis hingegen war mit USD 18.750,00 (€ 16.230,96) mehr als dreimal so hoch. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Ray Metzker auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Composites: Tall Grove Of Nudes im April 2012 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 122.500,00 (€ 92.599,59).
