Auction result well in line with expectations

The work The Perils of Whaling by Ralph Cahoon was auctioned at Christies in New York in October 2007. The price achieved of USD 27,400.00 (€ 18,938.35) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as USD 20,000.00 – 30,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Ralph Cahoon - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Luck of the Sailfish Club, which sold at auction in January 2007 for USD 96,000.00 (€ 73,857.52).

Der dabei erzielte Preis von USD 27.400,00 (€ 18.938,35) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit USD 20.000,00 – 30.000,00 angegeben worden. Für andere Arbeiten von Ralph Cahoon mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Luck of the Sailfish Club beobachtet, die im Januar 2007 für USD 96.000,00 (€ 73.857,52) versteigert wurde.
