In March 2007 Sothebys in New York held the auction Contemporary Art Asia, which included the work Red Guard by Qu Guangci. The »bidding war« ended at USD 34,800.00 (€ 26,020.64), 74% above the upper estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Qu Guangci - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Last Supper, which sold at auction in October 2007 for HKD 1,027,500.00 (€ 91,614.25).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 74 % übertroffen
Im März 2007 führte Sothebys in New York die Auktion Contemporary Art Asia durch, in der auch die Arbeit Red Guard von Qu Guangci zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von USD 34.800,00 (€ 26.020,64) und damit 74% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Für andere Arbeiten von Qu Guangci mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Last Supper beobachtet, die im Oktober 2007 für HKD 1.027.500,00 (€ 91.614,25) versteigert wurde.
