This artwork by Purvis Young achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in New York in January 2021. In the Outsider and Vernacular Art auction, the work Horses and Leaders sold for USD 20,000.00 (€ 16,481.25) - well above the upper estimate of USD 10,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Purvis Young - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work People with Halos Above City, 1973, which sold at auction in January 2020 for USD 43,750.00 (€ 39,439.29).

Dieses Kunstwerk von Purvis Young erzielte im Januar 2021 bei Christies in New York einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion Outsider and Vernacular Art wurde die Arbeit Horses and Leaders für USD 20.000,00 (€ 16.481,25) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von USD 10.000,00. Für andere Arbeiten von Purvis Young mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit People with Halos Above City, 1973 beobachtet, die im Januar 2020 für USD 43.750,00 (€ 39.439,29) versteigert wurde.
