In November 2019 Sothebys in Mumbai held the auction Boundless: India, which included this untitled work by Prabhakar Barwe. The »bidding war« ended at INR 4,375,000.00 (€ 55,188.76), 46% above the upper estimate. Admittedly, works by Prabhakar Barwe have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work The Chess-Board in September 2020 with an auction result of GBP 302,400.00 (€ 333,445.16).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 46 % übertroffen
Im November 2019 führte Sothebys in Mumbai die Auktion Boundless: India durch, in der auch diese Arbeit ohne Titel von Prabhakar Barwe zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von INR 4.375.000,00 (€ 55.188,76) und damit 46% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Prabhakar Barwe auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit The Chess-Board im September 2020 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 302.400,00 (€ 333.445,16).
