In December 2015 Christies in Mumbai held the auction The India Sale, which included the work Green Lake by Prabhakar Barwe. The »bidding war« ended at INR 3,250,000.00 (€ 45,192.93), 63% above the upper estimate. Admittedly, works by Prabhakar Barwe have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work The Chess-Board in September 2020 with an auction result of GBP 302,400.00 (€ 333,445.16).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 63 % übertroffen
Im Dezember 2015 führte Christies in Mumbai die Auktion The India Sale durch, in der auch die Arbeit Green Lake von Prabhakar Barwe zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von INR 3.250.000,00 (€ 45.192,93) und damit 63% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Prabhakar Barwe auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit The Chess-Board im September 2020 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 302.400,00 (€ 333.445,16).
