In July 2011 Sothebys in London held the auction Old Master and British Drawings Including Property from the Descendants of Walter Brandt, which included the work Studies Of Butterflies And Moths by Pieter Withoos. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 5,250.00 (€ 6,025.16), 31% above the upper estimate. Admittedly, works by Pieter Withoos have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Studies Of Insects, Including Two Long-Horned Beetles (Batocera Octomaculata And Eurycephalus Maxillosus), A Nine-Spotted Moth (Amata Phegea), A Yellow-Shell Butterfly (Camptogramma Bilineata) And A Bumblebee (Bombus Hortorum) in July 2019 with an auction result of GBP 22,500.00 (€ 24,703.50).

Im Juli 2011 führte Sothebys in London die Auktion Old Master and British Drawings Including Property from the Descendants of Walter Brandt durch, in der auch die Arbeit Studies Of Butterflies And Moths von Pieter Withoos zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von GBP 5.250,00 (€ 6.025,16) und damit 31% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Pieter Withoos auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Studies Of Insects, Including Two Long-Horned Beetles (Batocera Octomaculata And Eurycephalus Maxillosus), A Nine-Spotted Moth (Amata Phegea), A Yellow-Shell Butterfly (Camptogramma Bilineata) And A Bumblebee (Bombus Hortorum) im Juli 2019 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 22.500,00 (€ 24.703,50).
