Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Butterflies and insects by Pieter Withoos was sold in the Old Master & British Drawings auction at Christies in New York in January 2018. The price achieved of USD 5,000.00 (€ 4,023.17) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as USD 4,000.00 – 6,000.00. Admittedly, works by Pieter Withoos have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Studies Of Insects, Including Two Long-Horned Beetles (Batocera Octomaculata And Eurycephalus Maxillosus), A Nine-Spotted Moth (Amata Phegea), A Yellow-Shell Butterfly (Camptogramma Bilineata) And A Bumblebee (Bombus Hortorum) in July 2019 with an auction result of GBP 22,500.00 (€ 24,703.50).
