In the Made in Holland: Celebrating 50 Years of Christie’s Amsterdam auction, the work Portrait of a young lady, aged 22, three-quarter length, in a black dress with gold embroidery, a ‘molensteenkraag’ with gold necklaces and a white headdress sold for EUR 22,680.00 - well above the upper estimate of EUR 12,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Pieter Codde achieve.
