Auction result well in line with expectations
The work An artist in his studio, seated on a stool, in front of an easel, with a pipe raised to his mouth by Pieter Codde was sold in the Master Paintings and Drawings auction at Sothebys in New York in March 2021. The price achieved of USD 10,710.00 (€ 9,120.33) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as USD 8,000.00 – 12,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Pieter Codde achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Family Portrait With Husband, Wife And Two Daughters Seated At A Table Draped In Red Cloth, A Son Playing A Lute, Another Son Holding A Fiddle Beside A Lady Playing The Virginal, A Maidservant Pouring Wine By The Window, And A Dog Resting On The Floor in July 2015 with an auction result of GBP 245,000.00 (€ 347
