Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Guards Around A Barrel by Pieter Codde was auctioned at Sothebys in Amsterdam in May 2008. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of EUR 14,000.00 – 18,000.00, the actual price achieved of EUR 14,650.00 could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Pieter Codde achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Family Portrait With Husband, Wife And Two Daughters Seated At A Table Draped In Red Cloth, A Son Playing A Lute, Another Son Holding A Fiddle Beside A Lady Playing The Virginal, A Maidservant Pouring Wine By The Window, And A Dog Resting On The Floor in July 2015 with an auction result of GBP 245,000.00 (€ 347

Die Arbeit Guards Around A Barrel von Pieter Codde kam im Mai 2008 bei Sothebys in Amsterdam zur Auktion. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von EUR 14.000,00 – 18.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von EUR 14.650,00 konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Pieter Codde erzielen.
