Auction result well in line with expectations
In January 2008 Sothebys in New York held the auction Important Old Master Paintings Including European Works of Art, which included the work The Adoration Of The Magi by Peter Brueghel II. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 1,000,000.00 – 1,500,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 1,026,600.00 (€ 691,732.36) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Peter Brueghel II achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work The Battle between Carnival and Lent in December 2011 with an auction result of GBP 6,873,250.00 (€ 8,231,687.76).
