Auction result well in line with expectations
The work A peasant offering a cock to his companion; a fisherman offering a fish to his companion by Peter Brueghel II was auctioned at Sothebys in London in December 2021. The price achieved of GBP 378,000.00 (€ 450,874.71) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 300,000.00 – 500,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Peter Brueghel II achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work The Battle between Carnival and Lent in December 2011 with an auction result of GBP 6,873,250.00 (€ 8,231,687.76).

Die Arbeit A peasant offering a cock to his companion; a fisherman offering a fish to his companion von Peter Brueghel II kam im Dezember 2021 bei Sothebys in London zur Auktion. Der dabei erzielte Preis von GBP 378.000,00 (€ 450.874,71) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit GBP 300.000,00 – 500.000,00 angegeben worden. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Peter Brueghel II erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit The Battle between Carnival and Lent im Dezember 2011 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 6.873.250,00 (€ 8.231.687,76).
