In July 2009 Sothebys in Amsterdam held the auction Modern and Contemporary Art, which included the work Dutch Vrouw Op Sofa by Piet van der Hem. The »bidding war« ended at EUR 22,950.00 53% above the upper estimate. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Piet van der Hem; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot Café in Paris sold at auction in December 2008 with the realized price of EUR 39,400.00.

Im Juli 2009 führte Sothebys in Amsterdam die Auktion Modern and Contemporary Art durch, in der auch die Arbeit Dutch Vrouw Op Sofa von Piet van der Hem zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von EUR 22.950,00 und damit 53% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Trotz des guten Ergebnisses ist dies nicht der höchste Zuschlag für ein Kunstwerk von Piet van der Hem; den erzielte unter den von uns beobachteten Auktionen die Arbeit Café in Paris im Dezember 2008 mit dem Hammerpreis von EUR 39.400,00.
