Auction result well in line with expectations
In March 2011 Christies in Amsterdam held the auction Nineteen to Now, Art from the 19th, 20th and the 21st Centuries, which included the work Marianne receives the French crown by Piet van der Hem. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of EUR 1,500.00 – 2,000.00, the actual price achieved of EUR 1,625.00 could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Piet van der Hem achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Café in Paris in December 2008 with an auction result of EUR 39,400.00.
