Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Extensive landscape with figures near a river by Philips Koninck was auctioned at Christies in New York in January this year, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 300,000.00 – 500,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 50,400.00 (€ 46,417.39). Admittedly, works by Philips Koninck have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work A woodland landscape with a cottage and figures in October 2019 with an auction result of USD 262,500.00 (€ 235,320.48).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Extensive landscape with figures near a river von Philips Koninck im Januar diesen Jahres bei Christies in New York versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 300.000,00 – 500.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für USD 50.400,00 (€ 46.417,39) den Besitzer. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Philips Koninck auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit A woodland landscape with a cottage and figures im Oktober 2019 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 262.500,00 (€ 235.320,48).
