Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Whirly-Gig with Little Man and Model by Philip Pearlstein was auctioned at Sothebys in London in December 2021, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of GBP 15,000.00 – 20,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for GBP 12,600.00 (€ 15,029.16). Admittedly, works by Philip Pearlstein have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Model With Empire State Building in November 2010 with an auction result of USD 170,500.00 (€ 130,791.65).
