Artwork auctioned at three times the upper estimate price
When the work Seated Female Nude by Philip Pearlstein was auctioned at Bonhams in London in December this year, the result exceeded expectations many times over. The upper estimate was set at a - in retrospect quite modest - GBP 6,000.00 but the actual price achieved was more than three times as high at GBP 21,760.00 (€ 25,066.69). Admittedly, works by Philip Pearlstein have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Model With Empire State Building in November 2010 with an auction result of USD 170,500.00 (€ 130,791.65).
